I am not a big fan of daily devotionals for myself. Skye Jethani has a daily devotional called, With God Daily, which he promotes as a daily devotional for those who dislike daily devotionals. He differentiates his daily devotional with the following.

Smart rather than sentimental and curious rather than cliche, this is unlike any devotional you’ve read before. With God Daily is designed for a digital generation seeking an integrated faith. Drawing from Scripture, history, art, science, philosophy, and current events, the reflections of award-winning author Skye Jethani will deepen your communion with God and transform how you see the world.” (emphasis mine)

Even though I like Skye on The Holy Post, even his promotion has not prompted me to commit to his daily devotional. I prefer to commit my daily time to the Daily Office of Morning Prayer by Forward Movement.

Last year I discovered this one year daily devotional, Every Day for Everyone: 365 Devotions From Genesis To Revelation, by two of my favorite Biblical scholars, John Goldingay (OT) and N. T. Wright (NT) . I committed to read it daily for one year. It is a scholarly devotional, yet accessible to everyone and it is not full of cliches. I heartily recommend committing to this devotional for one year. Warning: it might shift your paradigm.

At the beginning of 2025, I set a goal to complete reading 52 books on my Kindle in 2025. Yesterday, Kindle said I completed 60 books in 2025. Some were scholarly books, some were popular books with Christian themes, most were fun novels with lawyer themes, and a couple were children’s books written by the author I love the most, Kristin Emily Friend.
