Although I thoroughly enjoy listening to <strong>The Holy Post<\/strong> podcasts, their free books are not usually my favorite. This book is very good!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In an age where the church has become corrupt and less relevant, Carmen traces the Old Testament and New Testament theme of <strong>community <\/strong>and why it has always been God&#8217;s purpose to work through his community. Carmen is an Old Testament scholar and in this book she shows several instances where we interpret many well-known stories within the Old Testament <strong>wrong <\/strong>because our culture reads them individually instead of collectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I was challenged and encouraged by Carmen&#8217;s book to seek community in my relationship with God and the world.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From The Holy Post, I received, Becoming God&#8217;s Family: Why The Church Still Matters, by Carmen Joy Imes.
